Academia Sinica is a national member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and represents all ICSU affiliated academic bodies in Taiwan. Over the past decades, Academia Sinica has represented Taiwan in various scientific activities held by the ICSU to promote international Scientiific cooperation. In 2004, Academia Sinica started the Taiwan Chapter to the Academy of Scinces for the Developing World (TWAS) to support TWAS in improving the scientific capacit in the developing world. Currently there are 23 TWAS members in Taiwan . Academia Sinica also plays an active role in other international organizations such as the InterAcademy Panel (IAP) and International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholorly Societies.
